An alternate path?
May I humbly propose another possible path: An international "non-proliferation treaty" on coal power generation.
Please see my post on the idea here:

Great to see you posting this!
It certainly deserves wide publication. I really enjoy getting your email updates and encourage everyone I talk to to sign up for them. Before seeing your post here, I actually blogged on it over at Daily Kos and my blog Checklist Toward Zero Carbon.

The Boston Globe did LA Times one better!
If you can believe it they cut the same article off after the 12th graph! Making the article not just idiotic but an act of pure negligence....

THINK TOBACCO
The battles over Darwin might not be that helpful but the tobacco battles are. Not coincidentally it was big tobacco that helped create the global warming "denial industry". They're really peas in a pod. I wrote a bit about it here: http://checklisttowardzerocarbon.wordpress.com/2008/03/07 ...On Does refuting deniers only strengthen and empower them? posted 1 year, 8 months ago 13 Responses
TOBACCO
explains much.
as I note at www.checklisttowardzerocarbon.wordpress.com
with the passing of Frederick Seitz, the link between the tobacco industry and global warming denial is fundamental. it's a recurring nightmare.
