The Environmental Futurists
All this talk about campus organizing is well and good, but it's really not complete without reporting on The Environmental Futurists at Southern Connecticut State University; the most effective youth environmental organization in Connecticut and arguably one of the best in the country.
We have just started an on-campus bicycle program and are in the midst of several other major campaigns, including one to make SCSU sweatshop-free. For a small sample of our accomplishments (in less than a year and half) take a look at the following (incomplete) list of our media hits.
Seriously, if you're talking about campus organizing you should be talking about the Environmental Futurists! To contact us send an email to environmentalfuturists@gmail.com

It's worth repeating, stop drinking milk...
The scientific evidence is overwhelming, drinking milk from cows is definitely not healthy. It's common sense: cows' milk is for cows, not people. On Pennsylvania bans hormone- and antibiotic-free labels on dairy products posted 2 years ago 21 Responses
Enough already
I am more than a little tired of reading this garbage in grist. I would have given up my subscription a long time ago if it were not for all the other folks that will inevitably agree me with me in subsequent posts. Eating dead animals in this country is bad for the environment, the evidence is absolutely overwhelming. People who disagree simply refuse to face the facts. The climate crisis aside, raising animals for food is incredibly wasteful and destructive. As far as being a carnivorous environmentalist, since humans cannot survive as carnivores, I will assume this guy means omnivorous environmentalists, which is, in fact, an oxymoron.
Like I said, I wish grist would stop publishing such non-sense; I'd expect as much from some right-wing soapbox such as Fox news. As far as, facilitating debate, just like the supposed debate on global warming, there is no debate, eating animals is bad for the environment. Shame on you grist for perpetuating such misinformation and confusion. Corporate hacks?
Does Grist intend on running interviews with candidates from parties other than two corporate parties? I certainly hope so. On Interviews and info on the presidential candidates' environmental positions posted 2 years, 3 months ago 53 Responses
Give me a break
This is the second time in as many weeks that Grist has published a piece advocating eating dead animals. I am starting to think that I should stop subscribing and getting my environmental news elsewhere.
Seriously, Grist should know better. Trying to justify eating fish (or any other animal) is simply asinine. Do the people at Grist care about our planet at all? If so, they are extremely misinformed. On All you need for summer seafood splendor posted 2 years, 4 months ago 22 Responses
Udder Nonsense
If this is called a quick guide to meat-free grilling, why on earth does it include tips on how to prepare meat? Considering eating animals is one of the worst things that people in this country can do to our planet (not to mention the animal) I am very disappointed that grist would publish this. Shame on you grist, you should know better. On A guide to grilling without red meat posted 2 years, 5 months ago 17 Responses
Andrew Nazdin
Andrew you sly devil, I know what you are trying to do. You are trying to re-frame the issue and make all the wonderful Grist readers look at the issue in a different way. You must have read "Don't Think of an Elephant".

Climate Summer
I totally agree with trev about Jared. As far as I can tell, Jared has contributed nothing to the SSC during his tenure. Any progress that the SSC has made, has been despite of Jared, definitely not because of him. If any props are given they should be to Andrew Nazdin, Kat McEachern, and Erica Stout (among many other SSC volunteers); without their efforts climate summer would not be happening. Way to go SSC!On Students keep up momentum with a pre-election Climate Summer posted 2 years, 5 months ago 5 Responses
