of course it is a good idea
Switching military funding to almost anything other than military is a good idea. An even better idea would be to cut the military funding and cut taxes to balance it out. Then money can actually be used productively. On Shifting military spending to fund green infrastructure posted 1 year, 8 months ago 7 Responses

Right, Wolverine. And no one should be allowed to eat more food than they grow. They should also not be able to watch more movies than they make. Remeber when
Remember when the Republicans tried to make it easier to defeat a filibuster? Remember how the Democrats said that would be unfair, because the majority party would have to much power?

Over regulation
A hammer and a bunch of nails won't allow you to build a house. Governments have permit processes and often require that builders have licenses and insurance and lots of other things. Plumbing and electrical wiring cost money and the people who do it must also fill out forms and have licenses and insurance. All of this is much more complicated, and less possible than merely handing someone a hammer and nails (I suppose they could cut down your trees to get the lumber... sigh). Don't you know any of this?
Of course, this is all a result of over regulation, something environmentalists tend to want to see more of. Instead of being allowed to construct a cheap house that does not necessarily meat code, they will be forced to remain homeless. On FEMA sets deadline for Katrina trailer park closures posted 2 years ago 12 Responses

Things change:
I imagine that your average Australian farmer would take offense if you told him/her to not worry, somewhere else is getting wetter.
Yes, but if you live in a place like Calgary, it is hard to get upset if things warm a few degrees. It is all a matter of perspective. Just because you like the current situation does not mean it is right or ideal for everyone. On 2007: A record-setting U.S. drought year posted 2 years, 1 month ago 22 Responses
Sustainability
Water is a great example of what happens when the free market is not allowed to function. Instead of the price of water being controlled by market forces, the price is kept low by politicians who want to get votes. Because the price is artificially low, people overuse water, and you get silly rules only allowing you to water on certain days depending on your address. If the price was to increase to meet demand, people would be less inclined to waste water. On 2007: A record-setting U.S. drought year posted 2 years, 1 month ago 22 Responses
My job at FOX news
Please address the error in what I posted. The first map omitted areas that are wetter than normal. The unaltered map shows the complete story. If I presented the same map with all the drier areas omitted, could I write a story about how we are getting more rain than we used to?On 2007: A record-setting U.S. drought year posted 2 years, 1 month ago 22 Responses
Things look bad . . .
If you omit the areas that are wetter than normal. If you look here you get a better view of things. The number of wetter areas seems to balance out the areas that are drier than normal.
