Homebrew!
Brew your own! It is very easy and is typically 5 gallons of fun at a time. Lots of boiling water, maybe make a rocket stove to boil. Best of all, reuse bottles! Start buying beer in the Grolsh bottles and reuse them over and over. I can't stand throwing a bottle away, reuse is easy.

meat
I love meat. It is soo tasty. I find hunting is the best way to get it "free range". Heck I even pick up roadkill and eat it. I had a very nice roadkill doe that my boss hit last year. Destroyed his truck, but tastes great as chili. I only hunt on the ground with a bow, so the deer have a chance. I hunt for smaller deer so that the big ones can breed. Shame on me. who needs ice anyway
No ice could be a good thing! think of all the drilling we could do up there! A Brave new unexplored world up top! I say we turn it into the North pole theme park! We could even gather up all the styrofoam and make fake icebergs for our grandchildren to see (if they are around). yes they want to burn it up
I asked a conservitive friend of mine why we should burn up all our resources now and leave nothing for our children, and what were we leaving for our grandchildren. He said he didnt think that we would be here that long. He thinks that God will come and whisk them away to happy land. IMHO he hasnt really read the Old Testament where God let evildooers (and his favored children) stew in their own mess for a while.
Maybe God will let us destroy the earth mostly and in a couple thousand years come back then? Oh wait I forgot Palin was the latest Disciple and she said "its Gods will for us to drill" So with her direct connection to the big man (or maybe exxon im so confused) we should drill away cause he has a plan! Obama stole my gas!
I just thought my oversized SUV got bad gas mileage and I was to blame for buying it, but the truth is it is not my fault at all! McCain has shown me the Light! Obama is to blame! Obama has been siphoning gas from my tank! How are we going to afford another SUV!!! On New McCain ad blames Obama for rising gas prices posted 1 year, 4 months ago 7 Responses
Get a book, get drunk! (if your into that)
Don't mow! drink beer instead.
Go buy an edible / medicinal plants book and start labeling plants in your yard. Most of the "weeds" are edible / medicinal. Get some big stone pavers and make a path, a nice plant walk thru your yard. If you put good labels / markers people could walk your yard to learn about local plants. Put up a sign or something, so your neighbors know your not just lazy.
(certified wild back yard thru nwf: https://secure.nwf.org/backyard/certify.cfm?campaignid=WH08FWW1)Mulch the heck out of some areas where you want to plant some fruit trees / garden. Get free pine mulch from someone with pine trees and way too many pine needles. (Trust me they will let you rake for free). Next step learn how to brew beer and wine. Final step, get drunk on your front yard : I use blackberry's, elderberry, apples, and much more for wine and I use the yarrow and hops planted in my front yard for my own beer. mmm beer (it all comes full circle). On My yard, a source of shame posted 1 year, 6 months ago 18 Responses

Mmm wild food
I eat all kinds of things from my yard. One of my faves is chickweed (young). Dandelions are allways good, even better as fritters or wine. I hate mowing my yard, because most of it I can eat! Cattails are also an easy to identify edible. Just take care where and how you harvest. On Got weeds? Reach for the food processor, not the lawnmower posted 1 year, 6 months ago 8 Responses

Hunting the wild testube
Another way for us to be removed from the reality of nature. Way to go! And I thought ready to eat bacon was scarry. Testtube dinner sounds nasty. You probably could drink it thru a straw with your soylent green chips. Bleh! This coming from a guy who eats roadkill deer. All the flavor and none of the guilt! Homebrew
I love to brew my own beer. The problem is, I drink it too fast. I would like to see a comparison on brewing yourself vs buying. Also for the homebrewer you can go to http://www.breworganic.com and order your malt and hops. Or go nuts and grow all your grain and hops. Fat Tire
So I put some new wheels on my old bike, and am gunna try biking to work. I figure that might help with the bills, shrink my waistline, and reduce c02. Is a 9 mile trip too far for a country boy? 9 miles uphill both ways... The best part is if I spend less money on gass, I can spend more money on beer. Win win for me, screw exxon! lye soap
What about lye soap? I got some lye soap made from all the left over oil from a catfish fry. I just use red devil lye and mix it with the oil. You can also make lye from white oak wood ash. Guess thats the way grandma used to do it, minus the fried catfish, she liked chicken. On A test of eight green bathroom-cleaning products posted 1 year, 8 months ago 23 Responses

what we need
What the good ole boys really need is an electric/ solar / hydrogen powered 4 wheeler. Just think how easy it would be to get to deer camp without having to worry bout gass. The electric moter would be nice for hunting, not nearly as loud as the gasoline motors. Just make sure it comes in real tree camo, with a Dale Earnheart licence plate. If it had a built in solar beer cooler that would be even better. Do they make c02 friendly bullets? Burning Bridges
If you think for one second that you are going to convince Americans to stop eating meat you have lost your mind. Yes we should all eat less meat, but when you force this down their throat, no progress will be made. Most likely they will say, look at the wackadoo hippie environmentalists, they are sooo silly. Its hard enough to get normal people to make good decisions about the environment without the "YOUR GOING TO HELL" complex turning the general public against the movement. Promote eating less meat. Calling the typical meat eating American the devil, you will get no positive results. What reaction are you trying to get? What good are you truly doing but beating your chest, look at me I am meat free!! Burning bridges with the meat eaters will only make it harder for us to do the right thing. Maybe just say a chicken nugget has X carbon emission while a Tofu nugget has this. Make your statement positive. This statement from peta makes me wanna go eat a burger. WITH CHEESE!! mmmm cheese.
