  • How exactly is the sky is falling?

Wow. It sounded like things were getting better, since there was no warming, but then it sounded like you said yes, but things are going to get much worse, really quickly.  SO, is that like saying that we know the sky is falling, and because we didn't get hit on the head with a piece of sky today, we are sure we will get hit by two pieces of the sky, or maybe even three pieces of sky  tomorrow?  Is it really going to get much worse before it gets better? (Because it seems like it is getting better.)On Climate-wise, August was a pretty dull month posted 1 year, 2 months ago 9 Responses

  • Maybe just a bit awkward

It seems like a very Green thing to do, to be in touch with the emotions of fish.  I've never channeled fish before. Someonoe here can maybe help me out. How emotional are fish?  Do they love? Is it a romantic gooshy sort of love, or just a homey good to see you again sort of love? I wonder what would happen if we read Shakespearian tragedies to the fish, would they cry?

Somebody more familiar with fish than I am - please, tell me if I should just stick to hugging trees and singing Italian opera to potted plants. Otherwise, I see this as a vacation opportunity just waiting to happen! Maybe I could work a deal with a cruise line and sponser green cruises to oil rigs where we could all read Shakespeare to the fish together. • well, I heard Canada speak tonight

Hey, I see where the Canadians are weighing in on OUR Presidential election!  Whoot! Maybe they are getting tired of theirs?  One of their columnists apparently referred to Palin as a white trash, porn star, and another columnist for the CBC says that Alaska is full of drunks and crazy people.  So, I suppose, being the Governor of a bunch of drunk crazy people is not very highly esteemed in Socialist Canada. At least, I don't think it was an endorsement. On Canada has its own elections, which may shape future of a carbon tax posted 1 year, 2 months ago 10 Responses

  • second-meltiest ever?

I am so confused.  'ever' to me means a really really long time, like billions and billions of years. So when you say "second-meltiest ever" in the headline, and then say "second-largest on record" I begin to wonder just when we began keeping record of this.  Was it 1979?  And if we have as you say; "slightly larger ice cover this year" doesn't that mean there is more ice to melt this year? Are you also measuring the volume of melt without factoring the total geography covered? On 2008 Arctic sea-ice melt second-meltiest ever posted 1 year, 2 months ago 2 Responses

  • Hey dudes-

Ken G- I know fella.  I think the mass people transit system is largely run by the government/Amtrak isn't it? that would explain it. Probably the private companies that ship by rail take more concern for safety for cargo than we show for people.

  • Spence is right.

Aren't we forgetting something here?  Aren't there tiny little critters that live in that shale? Like crickets and such?  We don't want to disturb them do we?  Not for oil.  Don't we want to pass our tar sands on to the next generation? My good friend Spence said it first "Hideous"  but I'm gonna say it too; hideous!

  • Ungrumpitized Biofuel Revolution

"Smooshes together several different things," well, the American people love that. That is a huge marketing concept in the US.  Have you seen the NASCAR videos that are nothing but 60 minutes of car wrecks and carnage?  Very popular. The NFL and NHL always feature things smooshing together also.  People pay big money to see smooshing together.  Look how much the Supercollider cost.  And, speaking of smooshing together, there is a whole lot of smooshing together in the porn industry too, and that's billions of dollars there baby!  Maybe people just need to see biofuel being made.  You know, smooshed together.

As for that network problem, I just don't understand why only the government can unwind a chicken-and-egg problem.  Isn't the government much more likely to wind things up into intractable knots rather than unwind them?  My private enterprise local IHOP does fine with chicken and eggs, and they have franchises all over the country.  Maybe if we just put some pepper in that biofuel, then consumers would get interested.  It worked for Colonel Sanders you know!  And, if we're honest and tell people it's really just good old fashioned moonshine in a gas pump, we would sell a lot more of it that way too!On The automotive revolution: how fast? posted 1 year, 2 months ago 5 Responses

Wow, lots of bitter angry people here still in denial I guess. • Fed speak nonsense

Puentes uses a bunch of words. I don't think he seems to want the general public to pay attention.  Couldn't he just say the Federal Government needs to pay for it, instead of all this "empower the states" and "optimize" the performance of it's partners gobbldygook?   It's just a payoff. Geeez.  When our 'company" in Chicago optimizes the performance of it's partners, we call that payday.

I don't think trains can save us. Not when homelss people live on them and defecate on them, and there are perverts on trains who want to fondle my children, and lawless gang bangers who already terrorize trains.
