I (and other Gristers) have seen retail prices around $7 at a few locations, but we're glad to hear it doesn't cost that much everywhere! Folks, it appears you can find Luna & Larry's at a better price, which is awesome news. We should include a disclaimer in here that retail prices vary depending on where you shop -- we just report what we find.
And for you, JDakota, I did love the coconut brands – though the flavor initially took some getting used to. The empty pint of chocolate hazelnut fudge in my trashcan stands as a testament to my new-found allegiance.

On Snap, son! Baseballer Ryan Howard gets White House garden tour posted 5 months, 3 weeks ago 1 ResponseHi Max8806,
Committee leadership has indicated all along that they intend to markup next week, and have not stated otherwise to date. That said, they need to give 36 hours notice before markup begins. It's not on the schedule yet, so it's not clear what date it would begin. They could begin markup on some of the titles earlier in the week though and then move to the more contentious titles later -- the ones that still need the blanks filled in. So right now we don't have schedule, but all indications are that they intend to start next week sometime.
Cheers,
Kate

KenG, I've adjusted the "most" to say "key," which is a fair point. As for the Russian uranium, they are currently the No. 1 supplier -- I'm not saying they have the most supplies, but they are currently the country from which we buy the majority of what we use in power plants here, now. Not much to dispute there, regardless of where in the future we might be able to get that uranium.

It's the Senate version, with the oil shale, tar sands, and CTL provisions. Also, it doesn't have all the pay-fors from the House bill.

On Grist talks to New Hampshire Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen posted 1 year, 3 months ago 6 ResponsesRE: Two-thirds
The House Dems were attempting to pass the legislation under a suspension of the rules, which requires a two-thirds majority to pass legislation. This is a procedural maneuver to expedite the process, and it doesn't allow for amendments or motions to recommit. They were hoping to rush the vote before everyone goes home for the holiday this week.

This probably violates some foodie rule, but from my experience as a lazy vegetarian, stir-fries can be vastly improved with garlic, honey, and/or ginger. And teriyaki sauce can add some variety if you're tired of soy.
Then again, the things I can cook tend to fall under three basic categories -- pasta, vaguely Asiatic, and curry. So variety isn't my strong point.

I'm really not sure where and when Canis decided to take my blogging as a personal affront, but I have a few points I want to clarify quickly:
First, Bart has it right on what was meant in my original post. It's not the era but rather the glorification of that era that I find problematic, especially for my folks in generation whose time and talents could be better used by taking revolutionary action now.
And is revolutionary action the same now as it was then? Should it be?
Thirdly, as I said in my post, I was inspired by the film, and I think that there is much that my complacent generation can and should draw from the spirit of the 1960s. The whole audience was inspired, as cheers rose up from the 1500 people in attendance. But does that enthusiasm for this film translate to action? Does this film propose any ideas or action for today's litany of problems? I've marched in DC and NYC, but is that enough today? The film left me with more questions than it answered, and short of reliving what was then a time of inspired political action and looking really cool, I'm not sure what it offers to the debate today.

Crimes Against Nature was my "Aha!" moment as well. In college I was a teaching assistant in the writing department, and each semester I ended up with a differently themed freshman seminar to assist. My last semester as a TA, the theme was the environment, and I entered with little more than your average good-natured progressive's investment in the subject. But the book totally provoked me to translate my thoughts on power and privilege and their abuses to active concern about the environment.
