Of course Chu is. He's looked at the issues and EVERYONE publishing analysis at his level is pro-nuke. There is no peer-reviewed analysis, so far as I know, that shows us getting there from here, without seriously expanded use of nuclear power.
Not true on either account. Arjun Makhijani, a respected nuclear physicist and energy analyst has written an excellent book, Carbon-Free and Nuclear Free, detailing how to get there from here w/o nuclear.
