Gas consumption
I ride a Harley to work as many days per year as I can. I live in the South so I don't have to live with the winter cold and I know that makes it better. I get 40mpg on that big old HOG and thank God. I hate having to buy gas. Just imagine if even 50% of the people commuting to work in their SUV, trucks, cars (all by themselves I might add) were on a motorcycle of some kind. Even the new Honda vespa-like machines can go 60mph all day and get 65mpg easily. All those people in LA, Houston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Miami, Orlando etc etc. Their would be less congestion on the roads and parking space would be plentiful. Sure not everyone can ride a bike but it sure would help for more people to switch. Sure your hair gets a bit messed up but so what. Even with a coat and tie or women's dress suit on, you can put a jump suit over them to keep them clean and neat. We Americans are very spoiled indeed. In my college days I rode my 10 speed bike everywhere. I did not own a car and I did just fine. Now it would be worth my life to get on some roads on a bicycle. It is unfortunate that many of America's city roads don't have provisions for bicycles. Just think if a greater number of people could/would ride bikes/motorcycles to work everyday, we could tell the Iranians (and others) to keep their ... oil.On Gas prices posted 3 years, 7 months ago 28 Responses
