Don't all bulbs have mercury?
I work as an environmental consultant and we encourage our clients to dispose of all bulbs, including incandescents, as 'hazardous waste' due to their mercury content. My impression is that incandescents are not guaranteed to pass a TCLP test, so it is safest (for people and the environment) for the bulbs to be disposed of as hazardous waste for proper recycling. Unfortunately there are not many programs in the country for residents to recycle their incandescents, but hopefully there will be soon! I don't think people should be encouraged to dispose of their bulbs in the trash if there are chemicals in there that we would not want leaching into our water supplies, etc!
Anyone else with thoughts/knowledge on this subject?
thanks,
