  If we can get a handle on the illegal immigration (undocumented immigrants), the identity theft and the fact that our country is providing support other than employment, the lack of sympathy for immigrants would probably disappear.  Seasonal work in some areas could provide the needed part-time work that many young students need as well.  I see my sons struggling to find part-time work and pay for college. I cannot help them with tuition. We make "just barely" too much to qualify for aide. Many "middle" class families have to help their children take out loans as they watch the immigrants and other groups come in and get college assistance in the form of grants (no repayment). I take my sons to a university clinic for dental care and see these groups getting free dental care. This may seem off the subject, but it concerns those of us that are taxed to death and over charged to pay for others care. My cousin used work in the strawberry fields for a summer job. Now we have to deal with people that come here not speaking our language, increasing our crime rates, and our welfare rates.  What you are asking for is not the way of the family farmer. It is not the way immigration occurred in the past.  Many of these people do not respect our laws or our people. They come here for economic reasons, not because they admire our country or want to be a part of our citizenship.On To create a truly sustainable food system, we'll have to confront the farm-labor crisis posted 1 year, 5 months ago 14 Responses
