  I don't buy this

  Not only are some of the comparisons made by this author questionable, I take issue with the pet problem.  It makes having a dog or cat sound as if it's a luxury, when in fact, all of the people who adopt their dogs or cats from shelters are doing a lot to offset and control overpopulation as a result of past human carelessness.  If people did not have dogs and cats for pets, we'd be euthanizing them by the millions.  I'm not saying they don't have little doggie and kitty carbon footprints of their own, but if we're talking about ethics here, let's remember that pet overpopulation is just one more mess humans made generations ago that we're now in the process of cleaning up with shelters and spay and neuter campaigns.  Of course, if you believe this article, those of you who get pets from pet stores or breeders are contributing to pet overpopulation AND global warming...for shame!On Veganism: All or nothing? posted 2 years, 2 months ago 30 Responses
