Helping Free-Range Farming
I am a vegetarian, but a friend recently sparked my interest. Is it better to not eat meat at all (for sustainability purposes), or to help the free-range market by occasionally purchasing sustainably raised meat? Would it be beneficial and productive to promote the use of free range instead of avoiding all meat-eating altogether? eg. lowering the cost of such meats, promoting others to eat by these means. I'm conflicted by this, and was hoping others might have insight. I am not converting back to meat-consumption, but it would helpful when I talk to people who question my reasons for not eating meat, and encourage them to make better decisions for sustainability.
