Hello Grist editorial board!
I agree with Ken's question and suggestion. Blogs are a great home for honest and even heated debate. Climate change is, afterall, the most serious issue of our time.
But, I strongly believe that Grist should avoid posting emotional, slanderous articles filled with factually incorrect statements like the one above by Joe. This post really belongs on Joe's own blog, and that blog alone.
If folks did not get a chance to read BTI's SF Chronicle op/ed, they never would have learned about the central focus of the op-ed: President Obama's energy education program (RE-ENERGYSE) and the Breakthrough Institute's efforts to rally support behind this program!
Here's a link to Breakthrough's Fact Correction Post, so that folks can stay informed. It's important to give people access to "both sides" --> http://thebreakthrough.org/blog/2009/07/joe_romm_ignores_facts_in_atta.shtml
Thanks!

And the problem is....
... Nothing. Maybe I'm just naive, or not that cynical, but I really enjoyed her speech for what it was and found it uplifting and inspiring after an extremely boring hour with Bush.
Maybe I should vote for Obama... ha
... and/or believe that she was directing her talk to all Americans.
"You and I - stand ready - ready to protect our environment for future generations, and stay economically competitive. Mayors have committed their cities to going green; governors have joined together, leading efforts for energy security and independence; and the majority in Congress is ready to tackle the challenge of reducing global warming and creating a new energy future for America.
So we ask you, Mr. President, will you join us? It's time to get to work."
