  The sharp decline in federal services

  I cannot think of a federal agency that is not under fire, and/or investigation. I am staggered just thinking about how much damage has been done to the environment in such a short time. In many cases, forty years of hard fought environmental  progress has been wiped out.

  The process seems to be:
  

  1. loosen regulations
     
  2. eliminate what regulations they can
     
  3. cut back on, or eliminate governmental oversight
     
  4. use the excuse of 'budget constraints' for eliminating services

  In 2006, a story broke where one of the agencies had employed the budget excuse in reducing the number of inspectors from 16 to 1. I did a little research and found that the agency had roughly the same budget over the previous four years. There were some recent similar stories with other agencies. So, I checked three of them. Same basic results. Unfortunately the MSM was not picking any of this up.
