There needs to be more anger from the people in the EU and US, too. We must hold our politicians accountable to our expectations of them.On Why developing countries cannot afford failure in Copenhagen posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago 9 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
Africa and other developing nations feel the effects of global warming more urgently, so it (sadly) makes sense that they are more serious about this treaty than the wealthy industrialized nations. The US, EU, Australia, etc urgently need to take responsibility for our role in creating this catastrophe, understand that we're at risk too and work together to make this transition to a clean energy economy happen as smoothly as possible. On Africa walks out on climate talks in Barcelona, citing lack of commitment from West posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago 3 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
TckTckTck has is right. We're running out of time. The US must pass a law committing ourselves to reducing ghg emissions ahead of Copenhagen. The success of the treaty - and possible the fate of life as we know it depends on it! Obama, this is why we elected you!On Negotiators take aim at U.S. on day one of Barcelona climate talks posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago 1 ResponseClick here to view comment in original post
RFK, Jr. best choice for EPA
Dear President-elect Obama,
It is my sincerest hope that you will reverse the harms inflicted by the Bush administration and implement policies that ensure sustainable management of our natural resources and address the immediate threat of climate change.
The best way to do this is to appoint Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to the post of EPA Administrator. Kennedy understands that balancing environmental policy and economic policy is not a zero sum game. Rather, protecting the environment and sustainably managing our natural resources actually strengthens our economy, our democracy, and our society.
Kennedy has an unparalleled track record of using sound science to protect human health and the environment, and would make an excellent EPA administrator.
