More problems with bamboo
Umbra, you forgot two very important problems with using bamboo to make consumer products!
- Bamboo is native to Southeast Asia. Elsewhere, it is extremely invasive. It tends to take over habitats...it displaces native plant species (as mentioned by SaraLaws above) and provides little to no food and cover value to native animals. It can also easily escape crop situation and start growing in the wild.
- Even if we harvest bamboo only from its native range in Asia, we then have all the energy costs of transporting it (raw or processed) back to the U.S.

Detoxing
I've seen commercials for those foot pads. I was very dubious because, how could toxins leach through the skin and then through the thick calluses on the bottoms of your feet?
One way I've found to remove accumlated toxins in my body is to detox once or twice a year. I do a juice & tea fast for a few days to encourage my body to rid itself of excess fat (and all the toxins stored in there).
Doing a detox diet for a week or two after fasting, or instead of fasting, can also help remove both water- and fat-soluble toxins from your body. A detox diet basically involves drinking plenty of water and eating only the good stuff - lots of fruits, veggies, gluten-free whole grains, beans, etc. - while avoiding the bad stuff - refined sugars, gluten, dairy, fried and processed food, etc.On Umbra on toxins in your body posted 1 year, 2 months ago 13 Responses

this isn't everything 'green', just energy issues
You're too focused on energy issues here. It's great to have that focus, but you can't label energy issues as if they were the only thing greens want. What about biodiversity? What about wildlands? What about pollution? What about sustainable agriculture? There's a whole lot more to being 'green' than energy.
Also, is there a reason your URGE2 concept fails to mention renewable sources of energy? On The meme all the kids are talking about! posted 2 years, 9 months ago 22 Responses
