Are we supposed to give up?

When I see comments attacking Nader, Greens, third party politics, etc... I wonder, what we are supposed to do?  Give up?  What is wrong with having an independent voice in there that forces the mainstream media candidates to respond to the REAL questions?  What are you all worried about?

Do you think Nader will get any coverage?  We saw the media completely avoid Kucinich, Dodd, even Ron Paul.  What makes you think the corporate media will give one minute of coverage to anti-corporate Nader?

If Nader does get coverage, I will be pleasantly surprised.  And if that results in the Democrats losing votes, so be it.  There's not much difference between Clinton, Obama or McCain anyways.  Neither of them want to get out of the war.  They all tout themselves as being green.  We all should know what a big lie that is.

While it is true that the development of a viable third party is seemingly impossible, why do we tend to wait until the 11th hour (see: Nader) to push for a voice of the people?  Howard Zinn is right, we need to start with zealous education.  Election reform would be nice too.  On Ralph Nader announces his presidential run, calls for carbon tax posted 1 year, 8 months ago 23 Responses

    Stop the Madness.

The superfund has been a highly successful project.  Yes, it does cost a lot of money to litigate against suspected polluters.  1000 sites have been cleaned since inception.  We have many more to go, no doubt... but the benefits of these cleanups are priceless.

Sometimes you can find the bad guys.  Sometimes you can't.  In order to address these cases, along with cleanup fees assessed upon responsible (paying) polluters, the superfund was also funded by corporations that produce harmful toxins (polluter tax) as well as a general corporate tax on corporations with net revenues over $200 million.  That all ended in 1995.  We need to reinstate the corporate taxes immediately.
