Choice education reducing green house gases
I agree with the majority of your commentary about the advantages of school choice regardless of residence. However, I speak from experience when I say that this choice will not necessarily have a positive impact on urban sprawl or reducing greenhouse gases.
In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, we have that choice in education. The calibre of schools all over the city is so impressive that one hardly stands above the others unless you are looking for special programs. However, people still buy houses in the suburbs, now they just drive their children to school. The percentage of children driven by their parents from other parts of the city has risen dramatically. So much in fact that many children are at risk to increased danger of roadside accidents because they do not practice road safety in daily walks to school. The line ups of idling vehicles before and after classes leaves clouds of fumes in the school yard.
I certainly don't know what the ideal combination is for this ecological and social school dilemma. On School choice could be an answer to sprawl posted 4 years ago 24 Responses

LitterMate in Canada
I have been using LitterMate for the past two years. It is a Biodegradeable, clumping, non-toxic cat litter. LitterMate is made with barley and baking soda. Not only does it work great (flush the clumps, compost the remainder) but it is supporting prairie farmers who grow the grain for the litter. I don't even consider buying anything else and I recommend it to everyone I know.On Umbra on kitty litter posted 4 years, 1 month ago 25 Responses
