  Elevator pitch for environmentalism

  If you breathe, drink, eat, or love someone who does, you should be environmentalist.  We're 60 percent water with filters for lungs. If it's in our environment, it's in us.

  Print magazines

  Yes, I still read print magazines--I live in a place where many people  rarely read, much less read electronic news, so after I'm done I sneak off and scatter my environmentally unfriendly magazines around local physicians' offices, cafes, libraries, and even, occasionally, Forest Service meetings where lots of "anti-Greens" (their choice of name, not mine) can be found. Call me an optimist.

  My favorite print magazines include Mother Jones (www.motherjones.com) and High Country News (www.hcn.org). But I'd pick Harper's (www.Harpers.org) for an international audience--the mag usually includes a wide range of widely applicable social and environmental issues.
