Maybe because it was Friday...
...the editors overlooked the blatant oxymoron that is this article. Thoughts of a lovely Mother's Day weekend distracted them from their duties of posting articles to guide the rest of us on our green journeys. I can only hope that's the reasoning behind this one... every now & then they just aren't paying attention to what they're doing.
I'm with TheSSG on this one, let your wordly body feed the earth from which it came! Why add chemicals to turn it into goo when it'll do that all on its own with a little help from Mother Nature? On Dissolving your corpse is the green way to go posted 1 year, 6 months ago 12 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
Eco-furniture
I've worked in the contract furniture industry for the past 3 years, and I'm now the Sustainability Coordinator for my company. I agree Umbra, GreenGuard is a great resource for low-emitting furniture, but just because it doesn't off-gas doesn't always mean it's sustainably manufactured. Mary Beth, you should check out www.sustainablefurniturecouncil.org. They have a great listing of member companies and their websites.
Another point to make regarding the upholstery, there are some GREAT recycled polyester fabrics on the market now that are sturdy enough for commercial use. Check out Interface Fabric's Terratex line (www.terratex.com) or Valley Forge's FRESH line (www.valleyforge.com). Many furniture manufacturers will give you a COM option (customer's own material), so even if the manufacturer you go with doesn't offer "green" fabrics you can purchase it separately and send it in for upholstery.
Hope this helps! (And if you need stackable chairs, check out my company at www.mtsseating.com!)On Umbra on library furniture posted 1 year, 7 months ago 4 Responses
