WHAT A LOAD OF GREEDY SPEW!!

Compensation based on the speculative value?  In this market?  That argument is nothing more than an outright grab for taxpayer's money - these obvuiously Republican fat-asses are just employing a variant of the Grover Norquist treason to deprive the American taxpayers of our money and our government.

Compensation should never, in any case, be more than the reduction, if any, in the value of the land below the purchase price.  And even that compensation would have to be offset by any increase in value that results from the enforcement of the applicable environmental law or regulation - such as an increase in the value of surrounding parcels caused by enforcing a no-build regulation on one parcel.

    Cui "Flow" Bono?

The thing to remember (whenever the discussion revolves around the preference of conservatives for corporate rights over human rights) is that the finance "industry" promotes those activities that increase currency flow and market volatility - for therein lies their profit.

Protecting human rights and lives tends to decrease both flow and volatility since, in some measure, these factors are a result of violaence and hostility - or, at least, competition.

Therefore, the moneymen lurking in the back of every Republican's closet tend to promote activities which are, in reality, harmful to humans, since those are the activities that result in higher profits.

In essence, this is also why the "Peace Dividend" was not permitted to pan out - because Clinton's surplus benefitted American citizens more than Pentagon Contractors. On Conservatives on global warming v. conservatives on terrorism posted 3 years, 3 months ago 3 Responses
