    What about carbon emissions?

If it's true that burning fossil fuels adds to heat-trapping gases that are causing global warming, then isn't it better to make electricity using something like nuclear power that doesn't emit those gases?  I understand that France gets something like 85% of its electricity from nuclear power.  I wonder how many tons of carbon dioxide a year more it would be putting out if it got most of its electricity from coal and gas the way we do.

Nuclear energy has lots of downsides.  But if you consider global warming a catastrophe that is happening much more quickly than anyone thought...On Nukes in France posted 3 years, 8 months ago 3 Responses

    Why not more nuclear power?

I have read that James Lovelock--the guy who has been warning us about global warming for a long time--thinks that replacing fossil fuel plants with nuclear plants is a very important step.  He doesn't think renewables are up to the job.

Since global warming is such a huge catastrophe, is anyone else in the environmental movement starting to think differently about nuclear power?  On TIME cover story on global warming posted 3 years, 8 months ago 15 Responses
