    Pretty happy w/ gDiapers

I've been using gDiapers during the day and Seventh Generation at night for my 17-month-old. I find the g's just as convenient as disposable except for really messy poop (but then that's when you really want to be flushing anyway). When she was an infant, it was prefolds during the day and g's at night. Her bladder's too big for that now, and my life is too crazy to be walking around with a soaking kid. The only other thing about g's that is kind of a bummer (so to speak) is that the velcro on the covers wears out over time and curls up a bit. I'd personally recommend giving them a try. Kids and environment

Great article on Lisa Shimizu's "Inconvenient Truth For Kids" talk, and good point by Steveandpup about hitting kids too hard with complex issues and shutting them down. Another great book that addresses instilling a love of the earth in kids is Richard Louv's Last Child in the Woods. His recent article No Child Left Inside is in this month's Orion Magazine (www.orionmagazine.org). Recently heard the famous quote by Antoine de Saint-Expurey that I think applies well here: "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea." My ski-loving six-year-old knows that we walk to school whenever possible because cars make the air dirty and that makes winters warmer than they should be. I'll leave it at that for now, but would love to see Lisa's talk with him in a few years! On Can Al Gore's message be tailored for kids? posted 2 years, 8 months ago 16 Responses
