alcohol works for me
Since (I think) it's the bacteria and other critters proliferating in that warm, moist environment that gives rise to much of the odor of perspiration, I've found that wiping my armpits with a piece of cotton (saved from vitamin pill bottles) soaked in $1 store alcohol serves me well. It's easy to carry an alcohol-soaked wad of cotton in a tiny snip of plastic bag + twisty for re-touches during the day, if needed. Of course it's not an antiperspirant, but do I really want to strangle my perspiration system?

GMO seeds now widespread
If you want to educate yourself about this very important issue, some good places to begin are
<http://www.seedalliance.org/index.php?page=SeminisMonsanto>
and
<http://www.fedcoseeds.com/seeds/monsanto.htm>
<http://www.fedcoseeds.com/seeds/terminator.htm>
If you want seeds that do not originate from a Monsanto-owned company, be sure to ask in your seed order that no seeds coming from Seminis be included. It's disheartening to learn how many of our favorite seed companies now sell seeds (unmarked) that come from Monsanto-owned Seminis.On Author Claire Hope Cummings dishes the dirt on genetically modified food posted 1 year, 3 months ago 12 Responses

What's charcoaling?
Matt --
Ah, dear to my heart are raised beds (mounds, actually) and compost. But I don't know what charcoaling is. ???
At the moment my mounded beds are under 5" of snow, but lurking under the snow are fall-planted onions, leeks, garlic, and shallots. And elsewhere are over-wintered kale, collards, brussels sprouts, parsnips, carrots and potatoes. And under cloches new fava beans. And hardening off under the eaves are cabbage, broccoli, raab, bak choi, kale, lettuce, spinach...
