    Dishwasher

    PermieWriter -

I wondered about whether the dishwasher was still doing its job, but I picked up Palmolive's phosphate-free (it's a start) and it's working great.  I did use the Seventh Generation powder at one point, and I don't remember having problems with it.  Might give it a try again and/or Ecover. I can get both of them at one store in town.  I just recommend steering clear of the gel.  One problem in particular is what emgroff mentions: a layer of grease remains on some dishes.   On A test of six green dish soaps posted 1 year, 4 months ago 18 Responses

    Dishwasher detergents?

Anyone got info on dishwasher detergents?  Green dishwasher detergents seem to be harder to find than those to wash by hand, and I wasn't really happy with the Seventh Generation gel.  (Read "wasn't really happy" as "left dishes visibly dirty.  Eew.")On A test of six green dish soaps posted 1 year, 4 months ago 18 Responses

    "Extremists" move the center

The way I see it, most people are in the center.  However, "extremists" on each side help move the center!  If an extreme case is presented, people won't want to agree with all of it, but there's a compromise.

For example, they may not agree that meat is murder, but they may start to realize that people shouldn't beat their pets.  I don't agree with all of PETA's points, but I appreciate that some of their work has made my work with animal welfare (adoption, spay/neuter) easier.

And yes, it works the other way.  "Well, no I don't think Senator Kerry is a traitor to this country, but there's got to be something fishy about those medals..."

My one disagreement with Dave is that this is a new phenomenon.  I really don't think it is.  I personally think that you could see some of this in the civil rights movement -- Malcolm X, Black Panthers, etc. were so outside the mainstream that it made Dr. King seem more moderate and reasonable to the average white guy.  Of course, that's just supposition on my part since I'm too young to remember.  :-)  But perhaps the media can/will help the center move more quickly. On PETA and getting your message Out There posted 4 years, 8 months ago 35 Responses
