    Shorter Comments

Seems the farther I scrolled down, the shorter the comments became.  So here goes:

As a Vietnam veteran, Jensen reminds me of the quote " in order to save the village, we had to burn it down".  Save it for whom?
"meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Mcdonough-like quote:  " I work for the government, and I'm here to help you". Advanced technoloy, scientific materialism, sustainable development will do nothing to aid human enlightenment and transcedence of our finite limits. On Can industrial civilization really become sustainable? Environmental Justice

The EPA is planning to truck PCB-containing toxic waste into a low income neighborhood in Kalamazoo Michigan, within a month.
Local leaders and residents have formed the Kalamazoo Environmental Justice Coalition to organize resistance to this threat to our environmental and human health.
Did I mention this former paper mill site is near (and upstream from) our municipal well field?
In order to maintain our non-partisan, broad appeal to the greatest number of constituents, some have counseled against highlighting the partisan-oriented aspects of the issue.
However, most of what Mr. Kennedy says is extremely relevant to our local situation.
This Superfund site is the legacy of the "Paper City" as Kalamazoo was once known.  On An interview with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., environmental advocate and Bush basher posted 2 years, 7 months ago 1 Response

    PCB EPA PRP SOB

Here in Kalamazoo, Michigan, we are just learning of a secret deal between EPA and PRPs (Potentially Resposible Parties) - the local paper mills of yore, which will feature dumping 132,000 cubic yards of PCB-laced river sediment (sludge)into a neighborhood near the former mill site.  If that is not bad enough, the site is a short distance upstream from well fields that supply municipal drinking water to nearly 100,000 people!  I am not making this up!
Puts a whole new heft to the (lie) "I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help you."On Sweeter Home Alabama posted 2 years, 8 months ago 1 Response
