Point of information: Brentwood is in Northern california, not SoCal as some posters have suggested, and is one of the outermost fringes of exurbs of San Francisco. It was one of the places hardest hit by the recent foreclosure wave because of its remote location and lack of non-construction-related employment. Not exactly an auspicious place to build a "green" home.

Kristol's "magic"
In Bill Kristol's case, the "magic" isn't all that hard to understand - he inherited his influential-pundit status from his father, and got a job at the NYT via family connections with the Sulzberger family, also notorious practitioners of nepotism. This particular strategy would be hard for greens to replicate, though. On NYT columnist makes a late bid for dumbest paragraph of the year posted 11 months, 3 weeks ago 9 Responses

Rob Anderson
To make things even more nonsensical, Rob Anderson himself doesn't own a car and gets around entirely via public transit. He's also unemployed and survives on a stipend he gets for taking care of his elderly mother. Why he has decided to devote himself to his bizarre anti-bike jihad - going so far as to run for city supervisor on an anti-bike platform this year - is beyond my comprehension. On SanFran anti-transit activist puts $1 million between the city and bike infrastructure posted 12 months ago 6 Responses

What that symbol means
We have those painted symbols here in san francisco on a number of roads. It means, at least in principle, that bikes are allowed the full use of the lane. cars are supposed to pass using the other lane. Of course, that's probably a local regulation and it might mean something else in seattle; and even here, there aren't many cars that seem to understand what it's supposed to mean.On Time to get serious about bikes posted 2 years, 3 months ago 15 Responses
