"Well, you're a loser if you show up in a Cadillac Escalade."

    heh heh heh heh.  Excellent.

If only you could get hip hop/R&B artists on board with this mode of thinking.  You could have a revolution in purchasing decisions.

    Tibet

As much as I would like to see an independent Tibet,  the concept is essentially a pipe dream.  The article nailed it directly when the author mentioned demographics of around 50/50.  The Beijing government only has to play a waiting game.  The wait until the Han population exceeds the local Tibetan population.  They wait until the Dalai Lama passes away, and then appoint a replacement themselves.  They wait until their education campaign indoctrinates the younger population into accepting Tibet as an historical region of China, like it viewed as by the Han Chinese.  Foreign opposition is insignificant, as China has become too important to the world economy.  They know they just have to wait.

Tibet and it's culture (unfortunately) us on the path to assimilation, with remnants held on for commercial value...and there isn't much anyone can do about it.  As my Tibetan friend told me..."Beijing holds all the cards"  On A journey on China's controversial new train to Tibet posted 2 years, 8 months ago 6 Responses

    Kudos

    3Spin,

Your background is almost a carbon-copy of my own (substitute Montana for Northern British Columbia), and I too moved to an urban enviroment to study an environmental related degree.  I also encountered similar weekend warriors with little or no connection  to the land who carried around psuedo-evangelical beliefs of 'either your with us 100 percent or against us'. Their attitude essentially chased me out the faculty.  I couldn't study with such black and whites.

I can't add much more other than it's good to see I'm not the only hunter-environmentalist.   On Umbra on soy vs. meat posted 2 years, 9 months ago 27 Responses
