Democrats are as big a joke as Republicans
Give me a break. Yeah, get rid of all the people that disagree with you! Isn't there a word for that?
I've lived through enough administrations of both parties to know that both parties almost always represent special interests, not the people's interest (Yes McCain said that).
I was a student at Madison when Russ started his election by spraypainting his garage door, and I hope he goes far. I'd love to see such an outsider become President.
Still, since graduation I've lived in Los Angeles and I have worked for some of the most liberal lobbying organizations in the United States. I've also met some of the most racist, elitist and powerful liberal, Democratic supporters in the United States.
If these people are representative of the great Democrats that Patrick, etc. seem to think are so much better than conservatives, I'll side with the conservatives - even though I don't agree with conservatives on hardly anything.
The majority of mainstream politicians are about one thing, money, which is why Russ will never be President.
I won't argue with Patrick that most Republicans don't suck, but I will argue that far too many Democrats also suck.

I wish I could feel more for Gore
Many years ago, as a college student, I bought Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" and it changed my life. When Gore became Vice President, I really believed that maybe the world was on the verge of incredible change. Yet, today, I look back upon the Clinton/Gore years as a wasted opportunity.
While I will probably watch Mr. Gore's movie, it isn't going to change anything. The believers will still believe and everyone else simply won't go see the movie.
Inevitably, a movie is just talk, talk, talk - the very essence of Al Gore.

E85, GM, and Politicians
It's ironic that the majority of scientists exploring alternative energy don't believe ethanol offers much of a future for America, especially if we don't stop increasing our gasoline addiction. Yet, GM admits that hybrid cars - a tool for fuel efficiency - are a nothing but a PR move as they lobby Congress on E85 and launch a new line of gas-guzzlers.
What's wrong with this picture? Isn't GM an automaker? Shouldn't GM focus on much more fuel efficient vehicles, such as hybrids, rather than new fuels? GM seems to be trying to create the impression that we could all drive flex-fuel Hummmers AND reduce foreign oil dependency with E85.
While that isn't surprising, it is sad how many politicians seem to be buying into that rhetoric, including Hillary Clinton most recently. I have really become jaded by modern day politics. Perhaps politicians have always been so worthless? Ultimately, it seems it is completely up to organized groups of average citizens to make a difference.
