I pick apples in a park (there are a dozen trees, and no sign that anyone is harvesting them other than me) and make applesauce, with just apples and cinnamon and a little water to keep the bottom from burning. Whatever variety they are, they are very sweet and don't need any added sugars. Throughout the year I eat applesauce, or add it to muffins and such. Hooray for apples! On Apples with a sense of place posted 1 month, 3 weeks ago 10 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
So were they going to renovate anyway, and decided to do it in a green fashion, or did they rip out a perfectly good store so they could greenwash the walls?

Scooping the poop, and then...
If you don't flush your kitty's poo, then what do you do with it? Put it in the trash? I imagine that the municipal measures taken for bacteria in the trash are rather less than those taken for sewage which is expected to contain fecal matter from various species. On A review of non-clay cat litters posted 1 year, 1 month ago 32 Responses

Baby book titles
I really thought at first that "And Baby Makes Four: Training a Baby-Friendly Dog to Disease-Proof Your Child" was all one title -- something about canine kisses carrying germs to help your baby develop immunities. On A tired pregnant chick "tests" six green baby books posted 1 year, 5 months ago 4 Responses

hope
I was watching clips of Amory Lovins yesterday on youtube, and was struck by how comforting he is: he he talks about solutions, rather than problems. There are solutions out there! And it's the young generations who will drive them.On On climate nightmares, the Ursula problem, and planning ahead posted 2 years, 2 months ago 4 Responses
