Economists in the Treasury Dept?!?
I'm shocked by your shock that the Treasury Dept would hire economists. Who do you expect them to hire? I consider it a big step forward that the Treasury Dept has hired environmental economists. Keep in mind that the Treasury Dept will not be running climate policy alone, and it take insight from all disciplines to design effective policy. Burnett is a hypocrite
For several years, Jason Burnett spewed the Bush Administration company line, but now he relishes the excessive praise that everyone has been giving him lately. He has given EPA staff a ridiculously difficult time. He does not deserve Senator Boxer's gushing. He is not our savior here to free us from our climate worries. It is not particularly brave of him to finally stand up to them now. Everyone else has come out against the Bushies, and both Presidential candidates support climate change regulation. He is independently weathly, and the only reason that Democrats have a crush on him is because he has donated generoursly to them. "Global Change"
If you look at the report, the government got one last dig in. The title of the report is "Scientific Assessment of the Effects of Global Change on the United States". They strategically diluted the impact of the report by omitting the words "climate change" from the title, making it virtually impossible to find. All cars need instantaneous fuel efficiency gauges
I bought a civic hybrid about 2 years ago, and it dramatically changed my driving habits. I am a much less aggressive driver now because I get instantaneous feedback about how my driving behavior affects my fuel efficiency. If all cars were equipped with these guages, then everyone would know how aggressive driving and speeding reduce their fuel efficiency.
