The software to run the computations is called BOINC. You can also share computing time with other well-known projects like Seti@home and Folding@home, setting percentage of free computer cycles to dedicate to each.
Once BOINC is installed the project to run is the World Computing Project run by IBM.
The Clean Energy Project in particular is the one that is trying to find more efficient solar cells.

Not news...
While it is interesting that he pardoned the guy, I don't think it really climbs way up on the anti-enviro scale. Now, if he had intentionally killed the other animals, then I think it would be news, but it was all just a stupid thing the guy did not some wanton destruction. On President Bush pardons man convicted of killing bald eagles posted 11 months, 1 week ago 6 Responses

Get to the heart of the problem
What needs to be addressed with the sugar industry in Florida is the massive government subsidy that receive. Without money from my pocket growing sugar in Florida would not be a profitable business as sugar from other countries is much cheaper to produce, and not necessarily because labor is cheaper, but because it's just easier to grow.
IMHO, we should remove the subsidy and allow these farms to leave. Then the state/feds can pickup the land on the cheap. On Competing offer for U.S. Sugar complicates Everglades restoration plan posted 11 months, 3 weeks ago 3 Responses

caveat emptor
Buyer beware. "Organic" does not necessarily mean what you think it does. Thinking about the farm and certifier should be part of your decision-making process at the store. The "USDA Organic" label is on it means that someone certified the farm, but think about who gave them the stamp.
Milk by hand? Ever been to a REAL milk farm? there's NO WAY we could produce enough milk by hand at anything approaching affordable prices. Also, what's not "organic" about cutting the tips off horns? It in no way damages the animal and is something that's been done for thousands of years. On USDA has crazy idea that organic cows should get time in pasture posted 11 months, 3 weeks ago 5 Responses

Not new, but obviously illegal
ataventure:
Perhaps you missed part 2 of the memo?
It CLEARLY states that employees should NOT answer any questions posed by the Inspector General or the Government Accountability Office. The IG and GAO have a congressional mandate to investigate the goings-on of government, and failure to comply with their requests can be considered obstruction.
This is definitely on par with the rest of the administration's style. On EPA staffers told not to talk to media, inspector general, or anyone else posted 1 year, 3 months ago 4 Responses
