Every demagogue stand up!
The price of gas is determined by supplies and demand... + other political and "other" factors...
McCain and Clinton are ready to give up a big chunk of taxes(in a time of war, mind you) just so people can feel better at burning more gas... while still giving the Exxons and Texacos of the world their unfair share while subsidizing their polluting activities?
In my mind this is utterly unpatriotic!
And that speaks loud on the type of leader those two people would be: To please the basic instincts of the masses and blind them to the reality that awaits them... On McCain, Clinton support summer gas-tax rollback posted 1 year, 6 months ago 17 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
Electric car: Energy coming from thin air?
This is unfathomable that nobody in the main press (other than in this column) talks about the source of electricity production. In the West, (especially the Northwest) where a large part of electricity is produced by electric dams the question has a lesser impact but anywhere else in the country where the majority of electricity is produced by coal and diesel this is unconscionable to promote electric car as a solution to reducing carbon dioxide.
The Indian car maker Tata has just bought a French car prototype that runs on compressed air and they promise to have it in production is a couple of years... We'll see...

Where's electricity coming from?
I know you'll think I'm very picky but
especially back East where most of the electricity is produced using coal what good is it to drive an electric car? On The Extreme (plug-in) Hybrid: no breakthrough needed! posted 1 year, 9 months ago 12 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
Tata and a car full of air

Tata signed an agreement with MDI to develop that car for the Indian market:

freezing nuclear waste?!
heard on the radio that a german researcher pretends that (deep) freezing nuclear waste would see it's half life coming down from 100.000 years (give or take a few thousands) to only a 100 years...
I can't seem to find anything else on that...On How to tell future generations about nuclear waste posted 3 years, 2 months ago 40 Responses
