  Stop Begging To Be Let In

  Just go work on the issues.  They want to be exclusive and racist, let them.  Stop whining for the white folks to let you in.  Do your own thing.  The so-called people you call 'polluters' hire and retain plenty of minorities.  These same 'polluters' help black folks take care of their families, while the $6 billion per year segregationist environmental movement has no interest in the economic well-being of minority communities.  Environmental elites and racists avoid black people.  President Bush cares much more about black people than the traditional environmental movement.  So stop your whining.  Get a clue.

  Nuclear Power Plants Are Insured By Nuke Companies

  Nuclear power plants are insured by the nuclear power industry.  There is an upper limit on liability, but there hasn't been a significant accident since Three Mile Island.  Of course, all of America's energy sectors are subsidized.  Just look at the tax code for the benefits that make the American way of life possible.  Most Americans take these subsidies for granted because we simply want the lights to come on when we flip the switch and for there to be gas at the pump when we pull up.

  Theoretical energy activists propose unworkable solutions because they do not have to provide electricity to the public.  They see the utilities, particularly nuclear power providers as evil doers determined to kill us.  Ridiculous.  American utilities are providing us with electricity 24/7 in the best way(s) they know how to.  They do not have the luxury of pursuing technologies they know will not provide dependable electricity 24/7.  Armchair critics can insist on unworkable solutions though.  At a certain point, it is a disservice to public policy formulation and needed infrastructure investments.

  So Dave.  America runs on cheap energy subsidized by taxpayers in the service of a very high living standard.  A candle and a cave simply will not cut it here.

  Living In The Past

  Caldicott does not have a reasonable plan for providing Americans with adequate electricity in a global warming world.  Her science-as-God approach should know that our electricity demand cannot be met with wind and solar alone.  As an angel of science she should know that base load electricity will be provided in the U.S. by a combination of nuclear and coal (hopefully clean coal).  Of course, she has invested a career in being antinuclear so we should not expect her to side with sound science on this issue.

  Her weapons stuff is interesting.  She wants to put the genie back in the bottle.  Good luck with that.  Her sexual rantings about missiles and generals was quite titilating.  Grist might have to get a rating pretty soon if this type of sexuality is splashed about its pages.

  Caldicott should come into the 21st Century.  Nuclear power plants can safely provide us with emission free electricity.  The spent fuel can be reprocessed and reused as a renewable fuel.  The warheads she complains about can be converted to MOX fuel and utilized in nuclear power plants to produce smog-free and greenhouse gas-free electricity.On An interview with longtime anti-nuclear activist Helen Caldicott posted 4 years, 6 months ago 18 Responses

  Wind and solar alone can NEVER provide all of the electricity we need in America.  It is a good supplemental source of power.  Get a clue. Join us in the real world.  Do you live in the woods by candle power?  I bet you do not.  I will bet that you are on the grid.
