Looks like Obama Caves
Obama reverses his position on offshore drilling and says he is willing to compromise with Republicans to allow off-shore drilling:
"Obama said Friday that he would be willing to compromise on his position against offshore oil drilling if it were part of a more overarching strategy to lower energy costs."
Hmm, yet both candidates seem to be ignoring conservation and reducing consumption as the BEST and cheapest ways to combat climate change and get on track on energy.

caniscandida, your criticism is well taken and I apologize for my immature post. Maybe it was those raging hormones ;)
I've always been committed to deep ecology and I see the deeper root of the problem is habitat encroachment by us humans and by our unsustainable practices that put a strain on these ecosystems. On Captured sea lions on Columbia River assassinated posted 1 year, 6 months ago 13 Responses

Who's next?
I've been very suspicious of the Sierra Culb and the National Resource Defense Fund as they've both grown closer to corporate interests.
Are there any "true" grassroots. non-corporatized, eco-nonprofits left? I'd say Friends of the Earth comes close. On Sierra Club removes leadership of its Florida chapter posted 1 year, 7 months ago 42 Responses

Carbon Tax on Air Travel
What if we placed some sort of carbon tax on air travel?
- It may dissuade people from traveling by air and perhaps give trains a competitive advantage when it comes cross country trips.
- A carbon tax on air travel wont effect the poor and working class as they much as they won't be flying by air anyhows as its financially prohibited for most (many can't afford to leave work and/or the price of travel)
