intentional?
er... we are altering the entire planet's atmosphere relatively cheaply - in fact they tell us we can't afford not to
..so if AGW is a weapon in the hands of the powers that be, who is it being aimed at?
- us perhaps? On Battlefield earth posted 1 year, 9 months ago 3 ResponsesClick here to view comment in original post
how long does CO2 stay in the atmosphere?
"heat-trapping carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere for about 100 years."
Co2 stays in the atmosphere as long as it takes a process to take it out - it doesn't leave the atmosphere of its own accord.
Since the main natural mechanisms for CO2 removal are all under threat from global warming (in no particular order: solution in seawater, plankton, forests, etc.), 100 years may be a bit optimistic. After these mechanisms have failed it is down to rocks to absorb the CO2 on time-scales way longer than those that measure human civilisation.Another point: You say that in 2 years the temperature will rise steadily. At what point will it level off?
All in all a good article - one that needed to be written - thanks. On It's too late to stop climate change, argues Ross Gelbspan -- so what do we do now? posted 1 year, 11 months ago 45 Responses

don't throw the baby out with the bath water
Dismissing this book with only a cursory look is a bit of a mistake.
I have read it. Its secret message is that cutting carbon by 90% and maintaining our current lifestyle is impossible.
From the Faustian metaphor that begins each chapter to the super-comprehensive appendix, this book is worth reading. On Skip it posted 2 years, 5 months ago 18 Responses
