AMI worked closely with members of the Energy and Commerce Committee to ensure that the language addressing the modified atmosphere (low oxygen/CO) packaging was eliminated from the bill. Other provisions, such as those concerning the establishment of preventive controls, mandatory country of origin labeling and traceability, also were significantly improved. Notwithstanding some improvements, however, AMI still has concerns regarding providing FDA with mandatory recall dsl authority, the imposition of registration fees and a reference to BPA in the legislation, among others. Although the timing remains uncertain, the bill will next move to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.

Cyclone Nargis was a 500 year storm. Even the historical meteorolists said that it has happened before. why the alarmists make such a big deal about it is beyond me.The reason the death tolls keep going up from cyclones is because more and more idiots keep building houses right up to the coast, especially in 3rd world countries where they still make houses out of nothing more than palm branches. You can't fake global warming. The greenhouse effect was first concidered way back in the 1820s. This has to be the absolute worst example of "putting things off till the last minute" Amazing that hurricanes Ike, Katrina, the cyclones of the Far East in recent years, domain names the tropical type flooding in Boston, New York and New Jersey, the Australian droughts, the declining mountian glaciers around the globe and the world surface temperature heat splat that started in the late 90s (and is still here today) has not been concidered as a "wake up call!"

Europe has grown rich off the resources plundered from less developed places like Africa throughout history, and now in the energy area it looks as if this will be repeated. Why do European leaders feel they have a right to Africa's energy? Shouldn't Africa benefit from its own resources? It's a simple view, yes, but imagine the boost African nations would get if Europe invested in the Sahara with solar infrastructure and then bought the excess energy, once Africa's needs had been met? The Desertec project would build concentrating solar power plants in several North African locations. Morocco, Libya and Algeria have been cited as potential spots that are politically stable and where land is also inexpensive. The energy would be sent via high-voltage direct current transmission lines to Europe, which has been deemed technically possible, dedicated hosting but expensive. Experts also want to make sure Africa somehow profits from the project. Previous proposals have included allowing host countries to retain some of the electricity for free, in exchange for providing solar farm locations.

Quite agree with most of the other comments. That's not to say I don't also think we need to clean our act up! But that will not happen because a massive mind set would have to be changed, And whilst in the developed countries the arty farty middle classes will purchase all the 'green' products they can they will not sacrifice to an extent that would make things 'uncomfortable'. So they will still run their kids to school in the little green car. instead of making the next generation of polluters WALK. No. they will not compromise on lifestyle!
As I said I do believe that we have to do something about environmental issues, URGENTLY. Not to avoid climate change, but for the sake of our souls. What's left of them. My fear is this- just as the right thinking ideas on fairness and equality have been hi-jacked over the past 15 years or so, by nutters, by people who simply wouldn't be able to formulate such ideals themselves in years gone by, dedicated servers more likely would be the most bigoted sorts around - the same will happen to green and envoronmental issues. It will become an industry! Just like equalities, endless courses in big companies teaching employies how to be PC. Ah sod it, too late.
