now there's a thought:  how 'bout PREVENTING the contamination from occurring in the first place ??  and probably the best way is to increase the number of available, knowledgeable, competent and ethical inspectors.  but that would be logical, full of common sense and we can't have that, can we ?  better to hire poorly trained, poorly educated, probably illegally present in the usa,  at cut rate wages. workers who have come from  places where personal cleanliness is not important or not possible to obtain without great difficulty.  add agribusiness top level administrators to oversee national food/water health is kinda like inviting the fox into the hen house, ain't it?  i'm certain these people know how to do things right, after all, one can't really cut corners unless one knows how something works.  well, this is preaching to the choir i think.  allows me to ventilate i guess.    aarrrgghhhh!!!!  tingo.

ah yaaa, gully - we agree that 'factory farms', as you put it, certainly could be restructered, down-sized, employ MORE people, owned and run by families, groups of people - all of whom have a desire to farm, have the skill, training, experience, etc etc etc - howsomever.......money, politics, well-intentioned but very impractical influences (groups, etc) will immediatedly step in to prevent this .  for these reasons, our leaders, local, state, national, lack the guts to emplement changes,($$$)and it doesn't matter if they are republican, democrat, far left, far right, in the middle, over in noooo nooooo land.  it's almost like a verbal civil war:  the sides are SOOOOOOOO polarized, we can't, WON'T communicate, exchange ideas, heaven forfend  we should compromise!!!!!! :"....yer sellin' out to tha enemy!!!"  i know there is common ground.....i think we just get sucked into taking 'hard nosed stances' and sometimes maybe just don't know how to get around it.....i don't know......preaching to the choir would be boring......this forum certainly isn't !'   besides, i wuz a perfek chile......wer'nt we all ?! LOL!tingo.

well said !  my pore ole gray cells couldn't get it together enuf to say it as well.  and how wonderful it must be for for 'elk...' to live so perfectly !  actually, i've never heard so much psychobabble in all my life!  elk and gully outta write a book - but wait......are there enuf trees ????  as for obese RNs - pore ole lazy, slovenly, gluttonous nurses, havng to drag themselves away from their soap operas , bon-bons and couches, to measly ole 12 > 16 hour shifts, 4-5 or more days a week, mandatory overtime in many hospitals, usually critically understaffed , and having to deal with sick or injured people, who often, at least initially, are angry, frightened, frustrated, miserable, in pain at varying degrees, ....... some of   you guys make me sick!   at times i think you don't know s__t from shinola!  (moderator - i apologize - the phrase just seems so appropo).   are we all on the same planet???  but i guess, at least we all care - we must, as we take the time to think, (ummm.... ?) and write and read, on issues such as these.  god bless us and keep us, from ghosties and gullies an' things that go bump! in the night.    tingo
