I sent the following to the Post's ombudsman.  I just noticed that "will prevent Will" in the last sentence is kind of funny.  Hopefully the note will help.

    Dear Ombudsman,

George Will misrepresents the WMO study he cites in the second paragraph of his most recent article.  The WMO graphs (pg. 4 of their report) show a clear long-term rise in temperature over the last 100 years.  Yes, 1998 is a local high, but most of the past 10 years are among the highest on record.  The WMO cautions against using a single year to extrapolate a trend.

I'd rather have an accurate representation of sources than cheap rhetorical tricks (cute scare quotes and disparaging of San Francisco).  According to what I've read, Will has been corrected on this and other environmental issues before.  Can you please tell me how the Post's editors will prevent Will from doing this in the future?

If the projected cost is "a fortieth" of the GOP's number, then the GOP is actually 3900% off.  I'm confused.

On Republicans claim carbon bill impact on families that is off by -- no kidding -- 98% posted 8 months ago 4 Responses
