  It's Not Just Animals --it's the fate of humanity

  I think that it is not just the mistreatment of animals that is an issue here, but also the fact that animnal-basded diets are contributing to an epidemic of chronic, degenerative diseases that are resulting in soaring health care costs and huge national defiv=cits, and that the production of animal products is contributing significantly to global warming, widening water shortages, deforestation, rapid species extinction and many other societal threats. Yet, the number of animals raised for slaughter annually worldwide is projected to double from 50 billion to 100 billion in 20 years. in order to move our imperiled plane to a sustainable path, it is essential that there be a major shift toward plant-based diets.
