sugar is not the same as glucose

The journal article referenced here compares the effects of fructose and glucose. However regular table sugar is sucrose, which is a compound of half fructose and half glucose. So you can't avoid fructose by avoiding high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is generally around half fructose and half glucose as well.

If you want to avoid fructose, you need to eat things that are made without sucrose either.  Ironically, the sugar in regular old corn syrup (as opposed to HFCS) is all glucose, so if you can find stuff sweetened with that, you are avoiding fructose. On As Halloween nears, beware of the 'fat-free' candy corn posted 1 year, 1 month ago 2 Responses
