Bring homies the Bacon

We interviewed Stone Gossard, who was in Singles with Campbell Scott, who was in Loverboy with Kevin Bacon. So we'll give you the third degree: Check out Kev's new site SixDegrees.org to see which causes the stars are supportin' these days and chip in some change of your own.

Terror-free gas.

Crude and unusual

We're all for supporting oil suppliers that don't support terrorism. But a completely terror-free gas station? You'd have to do something about those pump prices first.

Car-hacking

You know the environmental movement has caught on when even the most unscrupulous among us are trying to get their hands on anti-pollution devices.

Bounce wit me

Philly 'zens may soon be strutting on sidewalks made from recycled tire rubber. Says one city councildude, they'll last longer than concrete but sadly won't create moonwalk-like bouncitude for pedestrians. OK, but what about our beer?

terror-free gas - possible?

I understand what they are trying to get at with the terror-free gas, but a) aren't there serious problems in OTHER regions where we buy oil, e.g. Venezuela, and b) can't this lead to looking for oil where this is very little for the cost of getting it, e.g. Alaska?

TFG

Re the "terror-free gas."

  1. I disagree that there are "serious problems" with Venezuela. I agree if this business became widespread it could lead to additional pressure for drilling in areas like Alaska.

  2. Two things struck me about it. One was that in the news clip, which was little more than a free commercial, they carefully avoiding showing the price of the gas.

The other, more important, was that the entire attitude of the undertaking is that the Middle East is "an area of the world that wants to destroy us." We are, in their view, targeted by Arabs. Not by Islamic terrorists, not even by terrorists generally, but by Arabs. Apparently, all Arabs. So all oil from the region is supporting terrorism and all companies doing business in the region are supporting terrorism. I call bullshit.

Bullshit II

I almost didn't send this - seems like a repeat to me, but then again sometimes two noticing the same ad brought to us as scientific wonder is truly many more than that. Wake up! We do see you! Arabs are not terrorists merely because they are of Iranian, Iraqi, Saudi, Eqyptian, Palestian, and of course even Israeli Arabians and Kurds or other religious groups. They are not! This is a racist tract despite it's tenet as nice produced and drilled American oil. Bull Shit II!

In Peace, Harmony and Unity may we find ways to work together to meet our common goal - the health of our earthly Home.
sidewalks

I wonder if the rubber sidewalks would be easier on the legs for walkers. I know concrete sidewalks are supposed to have some long-term ill effects on bones and tendons.
