A new ad from the Democratic National Committee is pummeling Mitt Romney for his extensive record of flip-floppery on global warming and so much more:

The sense that Romney will say anything to get elected has dogged him ever since he started running for president some seven or eight years ago.

Romney ready to flip-flopImage: ylangredleo73That strategy backfired on Sunday when the Manchester, N.H., Union Leader, the biggest and most influential newspaper in the first primary state, endorsed Newt Gingrich and poured scorn on Romney. The paper didn’t name Romney directly, but it didn’t need to: “We would rather back someone with whom we may sometimes disagree than one who tells us what he thinks we want to hear.”

Here’s Romney in his 2010 book No Apology and at a June 2011 town hall in New Hampshire:

“I believe that climate change is occurring — the reduction in the size of global ice caps is hard to ignore. I also believe that human activity is a contributing factor.”

“I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may well be significant contributors to the climate change and the global warming that you’re seeing.”

And here’s Romney in a speech in Pennsylvania last month:

“My view is that we don’t know what’s causing climate change on this planet. And the idea of spending trillions and trillions of dollars to try to reduce CO2 emissions is not the right course for us.”

But is the Union Leader unaware that Gingrich has flopped about wildly on climate change and lots of other issues too?
