Vegetarians = sinners

Repent, all ye pesticide-haters:

Organic Egg Brainwashing

Today, November 8, 2004, a shopper at the local Whole Foods market was observed buying a half dozen (6) brown, organic, cage free chicken eggs for $2.49. She could have purchase five dozen (60) regular eggs at the nearby Costco Wholesale store for $2.89. She paid 8.6 times or 760 percent more for eggs that are no different than the regular eggs. The organic food craze has reached the level of mass delusion.

I mention this only because it comes from the delightfully non-sequiturious http://www.biblelife.org/eggs.htm. Bible Life? Eggs? Did someone forget to tell me that Robert Atkins was Jesus reincarnated?

Vegetarians not equal to SinnersWhat a strange post!  First of all, the title is ridiculous.  What conclusion do you have that the person purchasing the eggs was Vegetarian?  Secondly, Regardless of what you think about her decision to purchase free-range eggs, does this make her a sinner.
Thirdly, I read your link page. It is equally absurd. It basically says that "Chickens are stupid, and therefore they don't know the difference between being in an open area and a cage". Well I'm certainly relieved that this writer knows exactly how a chicken feels.  I can, with certainty tell you that a chicken feels pain, and thus on the flipside, enjoys being free to rove about.

Who is deluded?Oh, mon cher Mr. Breadwinner, Sarah can hardly be accused of endorsing the statement of that unspeakable band of Christians.  She is merely holding up for our amusement, bemusement and horror its absurdity.  Such people as those are the ones living in delusion, thinking that supporting factory farms is an ethically neutral decision.

Umm...Hi Jim, I see you're new to Gristmill. Welcome!
Remember, this is Grist: Gloom and doom with a sense of humor. While we do cover serious topics here, you'll encounter a few silly ones as well where we take some liberty with our titles.
And you're right, that "link page" is absurd, which was the whole point.

Look out! It's a media shower!

From the absurd to the......simply nauseating.

Eating lots of red-meat and saturated fat has given me awesome health.
I drink the warm chicken fat from the roasting pan because it is healthy food.

Kent, one of the webmasters, apparently advocates a strict Atkins diet for "ultimate health."  His quote nearly made me toss my oh-so-unhealthy lunch of organic-free-range-chicken-and-brown-rice soup with organic 7-grain bread.

Got eggs?!?It's still open for discussion whether broccoli is as intelligent as a chicken. I think that's why they're seen together so often. We're an "Equal Opportunity Eaters" country, not only bestowing human characteristics on both vegetable and animal but eating them, as well.
I do miss Euell Gibbons <G>.

PSI DO very much enjoy your plays on words and sometimes obscure references. Hopefully, laughing is one great thing we can ALL collaborate on.
Keep up the good work, Gristers!

    OuchJim, they got me too.
I'm thinking, this person's a fruit loop, why would they link this ignorant crap.
Oh well, I guess I'm new too, so I'm a bit slow on the humour.
    Vincenze.
ps is it strange that 2 days ago I was reading up on egg options and today there's this thread?

Stalking the wild broccoli/Charge on, Sarah!Do not fear, dear Sarah.  A few of us at least hear you loud and clear, even without boldface.
Really, though, we must not underestimate chickens, neither their sensitivity nor their intelligence.  They are cousins, not so distantly removed, of velociraptors, after all.  And I suspect it would be hard even for Hollywood to make credible a scene in which a British game hunter looks over his shoulder at a looming head of broccoli, and, realizing the hunter has become the hunted, says, stoically, "Clever girl."
