    Hellish "Coal"-alition

Yes, this is exactly the type of "flim-flamming" that Grist Environmentalists have been espousing from the get go.   Now we see it in all its silliness.

I think there is ...a fairly long history of utilities doing this going back for over a decade. When you generate massive amounts of electricity why not have your drive electric vehicles? The 1993 Dodge TE Van, was 100% Electric; about 56 vehicles were built by Chrysler Corporation. They were sold primarily to Electric Utilities. When THAT gasoline crisis ended, all the US Auto manufacturers also ended their commitment to air quality benefit and fuel conservation.

Long time comin'For a rundown on the first generation of electric cars (which was abandoned ten years ago - and not in Nebraska), see the lowdown from activist Doug Korthof in EarthSourceMedia at http://www.earthsourcemedia.org/3.html

Good newsGovernment needs to lead the million car orders, then jawbone industry to match them.  Think of all the cabs alone that could go plugin, large cities have already formed a national organization to get this going.
Industry orders might just double government orders.  Then with an affirdable mass produced economy version, the public would join in the buying frenzy.
That could revive the economy in a few short years.

the air will certainly be cleaner
and it'll be much less noise..
