Eco-activist bids up oil and gas leases at auction 6

At a federal auction for oil and gas leases in Utah last week, environmental activist Tim DeChristopher posed as a buyer, successfully bidding up lease prices on BLM land by hundreds of thousands of dollars and winning 13 parcels that he admits he can’t actually pay for. The BLM is giving the other (real) bidders 10 days to decide if they want to withdraw their bids on the parcels they won at inflated prices. Some bidders indicated they would likely hold on to their leases despite the increased price since the incoming Obama administration may not offer the same leases again.

Yes!Now that's what I call activism. If more people stood up and did whatever they could do wherever they're at - just imagine the chaos we could wreak! They are selling off the last of our inheritance. What are we waiting for?

MoronSo let me get this straight...this guys artificially inflates the price of these leases, and doesn't necessarily prevent anything and you sing his praises as a saint. The only thing that this guy has done is pass higher prices on to the rest of us! He hasn't done anything. If he was actually serious about doing something he should have actually raised some real money to buy the rights instead of using smoke and mirrors while getting nothing productive done. It is stupid stunts like this that do nothing for the environmental movement and only get people that may be riding the fence to hop off the other way. Stop wasting time on these stupid pranks and start thinking about what we can do to actuall be productive without dumping the costs on everyone else.

    Okay...Driving up prices of what?
BLM land?  Thanks, bud, but I've already bought my annual supply of that for this year.  When I get done razing what I've got, I'll come back and join you in protesting Tim.

Moron IIThe higher the price of harmful things like oil, the better for the natural environment.  Quit crying like a spoiled American; gas prices in this country are far too low anyway.
