ActuallyTom said basically nothing new in this interview.
Check out the Chris Mathews MSNBC appearance.  He said that any bailout for the auto industry ought to include the replacement of the board room and executives with some sort of government panel.
He wasn't very specific.  Now that is radical.  Too radical to ever happen.  Replacing the present auto industry leadership with engineers and execs who favor plugin hybrids, now that maybe doable.  A congressional commitee could question possible replacements?  That might work.
But guess what?  Someone went even further a little while later on MSNBC, he upped the demand.  Replace the leadership and demand the production of plugin hybrids.
How is this happening?  Will media start standing up to real problems?
They seem to be getting ahead of most of the blog world now too?  Still obsessed with "free" market economics as usual.

PickensGet the Pickens daily show clip up too, ASAP.
He proposes natural gas for large trucks only and plugin hybrids for cars and small trucks and SUVs.  And wind and solar too of course.  He finally has it right.
And says Obama will do it.  He brought down the house.  Jon said they were all ready to follow him.

    I'll second that

    T. Boone absolutely rocked.  Go figure.
I think it's further proof of the importance of the energy independence meme.  T. Boone, a conservative, is all about energy independence. And energy independence moves him to wind and solar (and natural gas).
Global climate change may be more important for the planet, but energy independence moves the movers and shakers.
    Whatever works.

RewatchedI watched Hardball again, Mark Green, of Air america fane, was talking about requiring plugin hybrids as a condition for a big auto bailout.
Then on Rachel Maddow's show, Reich was talking this up too.  No bailout for big auto without a promise of green technology and better leadership and he siggested unions could get in on the deal too with some contract concessions.
They most likely would do it, if it is shared sacrifice for the good of the economy.
Something is happening G-mom.  Barack will definitely get these messages if people keep shouting them out long and loud and over and over...
Reich said something else that was vital too.  the 300 billion from the bailout has been mispent.  It isn't getting to local credit markets, banks are passing it out as dividends instead of lending it out.
Reich and Obama are in close contact, I just bet Barack knows all about this.  Look out scammers, better back off and give up the looting.  The old crony kleptocratic regime is nearly over, bushwackers begone!

$ 6+ Billion in bonuses for Goldman Sachs............. and $6+ Billion in bonuses for Morgan Stanley.
$66 Billion in bonuses are being set aside for the 'engineers' of the financial system and economic globalization.
These monstrously greedy people in dark, pin striped suits who have pillaged the capitalist system and ruined humanity's political economy by turning it into a gambling casino and stealing its wealth for themselves and their minions are the same people who are now warning honorable people not to dismantle the global economy.
What is wrong with this picture?

Boom! Not just bubble.  It'll go on and on until no more GHG producing fuel is needed.  Maybe 20 or 30 years.
There will probably be enthusiastic bubbles along the way though.  Deflating one technology wave, like wind for instance as solar cogeneration gets to 70% efficiency.  The old giant wind machines will be dismantled and recycled in solar furnace powered foundries.
It looks like world economic leaders are getting the message.  Solar PV has gone from 10 to nearly 40% efficiency with research developments over the last few years.  Solar cogeneration could collect at least 20% more waste heat efficiency gain.
With maybe nano-tech superconducting solar PV, what could the efficiency rise to?
Battery storage is progressing on the nano-tech scale too.  Theoretical energy densities that could make a plugin electric drive light enough to power an airplane have been attained experimentaly on a micro scale.
Battery electric energy storage that was 4 times the weight of jet fuel would have equivalent performance, because an electric driven fan would be 4 times as efficient as a turbofan engine on a current plane.
If even aircraft could be plugin hybrid, what mode of transport couldn't be?
