WhewBad, really bad entries ro vote on.  Who runs this foundation?
That's the bad news.  The good news.
Good enough batteries already exist to power a plugin hybid economy car the average daily trip length (23 miles)...at an affordable cost, around 1000 dollars given mass production pricing.
That would be a 1200 pound, 50 hp, carbon fiber car.  A no-frills economy model costing around 18,000 dollars.
The new graphite foam lead/acid batteries could do it, so could NiMH batteries now deployed in cars like the Prius.  Lithium ion would be more expensive, but still within tange given mass production.
Foam lead and NiMH are already mass produced.  Lithium ion is too, for power tools, this techology only needs big million unit orders to get the cost and availability needed.
