There's enough natural gas frozen 2,000 feet below the permafrost on Alaska's icy North Slope to heat 100 million homes for up to a decade, the U.S. Geological Survey said Wednesday. Look alive, Palin pipeline!

    One small frozen caveat Of course, tapping frozen methane hydrates for commercial use is a huge and expensive undertaking that is fraught with environmental risks.

    Anybody seen Ergo Proxy?I highly, highly suggest it before clamoring for clathrates...although science fiction has not always been an accurate bellweather for what's to come.
