Shouldn't those have been red colorless, odorless balloons?

Competitive Whining, er, Enterprise Institute bashes Gore with all they’ve got 3

A short while ago, Sir Oolius received a fundraising email from the Competitive Enterprise Institute asking for donations to help them with their new raison d'etre: yelling "FU, Al Gore!" as loudly and as often as possible. The fruits of this effort are now upon us in the form of a national ad whining campaign:

If carbon = life, then Al Gore ...

Since it's Friday, here's another gem that's too bad even for the CWI to attempt to air nationally:

Takes one to know oneYeah, you know what they say about guys who have spent their career in public service.  Bunch of money-grubbin' weasels, just looking out for their economic interests.
My general theory of name calling is that accusations of bad behavior tend only to come from those who are prone to that behavior themselves.  It's why Larry Craig is against gay marriage.  And it's why the business person who insists on 12 pages of protections from your malfeasance is the one to be most nervous about signing a contract with.  And it's why the little dude in the bar with a couple too many beers is much more likely to start a fight than the big guy next to him.
CEI is no different.  Having been backed by a bunch of people who bash carbon control out of economic self-interest, they assume that's the worst name they could call someone else.

AvoidanceSeems to me that those who are attempting to obscure rational discussion on the potential effects (present and future) of changing the composition of our atmosphere are simply diverting the discussion into meaningless areas in order to avoid really dealing with the issues.
The Climate Deniers making Al Gore into their favorite whipping boy  simply deflects public attention away from real evidence and places the whole question of the reality of the issue on Al Gore's back. In other words, if they can convince people that Al Gore doesn't have all the answers then there are no answers to be had... Not logical but unfortunately effective.

The black balloon ad is from AustraliaThat black balloon ad is run by the Victorian State government in south-east Australia.
Which is ironic since our electricity prices are escalating in part because a decade of low rainfall and hotter than average weather is driving up our electricity costs. This is because hydro power stations in the Australian Alps and the Tasmanian highlands are running out of water, and because coal power stations need water for cooling, and power stations are competing in water markets against farmers and driving the cost of water up.
The fact that air conditioner use is going through the roof with hotter than ever summers while developers are cutting corners by not putting eves on new houses isn't helping either.

ABC News (Australian) - Record power use in Vic Heatwave

ABC News (Oz) - Tasmanian hydro waiting for rain

ABC News (Oz) - Consumers warned of power price hikes

The Energy bulletin - Drought puts pressure on electricity

That evil Al Gore, if only he would go away, it would all be solved.
